Desktop Laser Marking Systems Provide an Ideal Solution

Industries

The following is a partial list of Industries and government entities that routinely employ RMI Laser’s marking systems

Aerospace
The Aircraft Industry, along with companies and government entities that are involved in space exploration, use laser marking extensively for the identification of tools and manufactured parts. The fact that laser marking does not affect the surface of the marked part is critical in military and aerospace equipment that is directly exposed to the atmosphere, such as the skin of an airplane.

Automotive
The need to mark large numbers of metal and plastic parts quickly in a fast-moving production line makes laser marking an ideal choice for the Automotive Industry and for automotive parts manufacturers. Additionally, the stability and permanence of laser marks are well-suited to the extreme conditions that many parts are exposed to in hot engines and exhaust systems.

Medical

The marking of medical parts, especially those like stents that remain inside the body after surgery, lends itself to laser marking (1064nm or 532nm) because nothing ever touches the part itself, and sterility is guaranteed. Scalpels and surgical equipment can be marked for tracking and identification purposes, with a mark that leaves no surface irregularity where bacteria can grow.

Computer
The Computer Industry has found virtually unlimited uses for DPSS lasers.   Internal metal and plastic parts are laser marked. Keyboards are laser engraved and manufacturers are now laser marking cases instead of affixing removable labels. iPods are now custom laser engraved by Apple and Mercedes for their more demanding customers.

Telecommunications
Because of their numerous similarities and due to the merging of their technologies, the use of lasers in the telecommunications industry virtually parallels the uses of DPSS lasers and markers in the computer industry. The use of fiberoptics and photonics in telecommunications suggests even a closer relationship between lasers and telecom. Laser engraving of cell phones and PDAs is also becoming extremely popular.

Electronics
RMI Lasers are excellent for safely marking sensitive electronic equipment. From IC wafers through packaging.

Jewelry
Jewelry is engraved with 1064nm laser markers and gold and silver pendants are made with laser-engraved designs. Photographs in exquisite detail can be transferred to gold, silver and other precious metals, along with logos or other graphic designs. Depending on their hardness and color, some gemstones can be marked on as well.

Cutlery
Laser marking lends itself extremely well to marking on knives because of the hardened steel and other hard metals used in their manufacture. Whether it’s been marked for identification purposes or for decoration, a laser-marked knife is always highly sought after.

Gifts & Promotional
Awards and trophies, promotional giveaways or specially created  gifts always look better when they’re engraved with an ultra-high resolution laser marker. Because of its ability to mark on virtually every type of metal or plastic, laser markers are among the most versatile and flexible tools that a manufacturer of gifts or promotional items can own.

Manufacturing
Virtually any part manufactured using metal or plastic can be marked permanently and clearly with a 1064nm or 532nm laser marker. RMI’s laser markers are designed to be easily integrated into any production line and our in-house integration and design services are available to help you solve any integration problem. Whether you’re producing scientific instruments or you’re a manufacturer in the Tool & Die Industry, we can provide you with the best advice and equipment to fit your needs and budget.

DOD: US Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard
Some of the most frequent purchases of our laser marking systems come from the U.S. Military, especially the United States Air Force. With the recent mandate by the Department of Defense to laser mark every part valued at over $5,000.00, virtually every Air Force base in the United States has acquired or is about to acquire one of our systems. RMI Laser, LLC now has a GSA contract for the 15 Watt Archer System, making it even easier for other US Government entities along with City and County Governments to obtain one.
